Electrical systems

Here at Powerlink Electrical Services, we provide full design and installation services which start with an initial consultation/survey and continue through to system design, with the production of working drawings when required. We then undertake installation, testing and commissioning (with operation/maintenance manuals, “as-fitted drawings” and certificates).

However, we can also carry out minor works such as the installation of a single socket or light. Health & Safety policies dictate that businesses must have this carried out by contractors with the necessary skill set or accreditation.

All our electricians and engineers are 18th Edition trained and fully qualified employed electrical engineers with many years of experience working in the industrial/commercial environment.

Design Software

Powerlink Electrical Services have the facility to design control panels on electrical drawing packages which allows us to tailor each bespoke design to every customer’s unique requirement and specification. Design Engineers use a CAD-based design platform, this is a great benefit for most customers as it creates .dwg files which is the most commonly requested format.

Control Panels

Powerlink Electrical Services can build wardrobe and cubicle-type control panels and MCCs in sheet steel and stainless steel. Panels range from single pushbutton stations to complete panel suites and process lines.

Types of control panels we have supplied range from –

Power Distribution Panel Boards

We provide and offer high outstanding reliability and functionality of Power Distribution Panel Boards. We design and build the panels within the company at the Powerlink Workshop.

HMI Control Panels

Human-machine interfaces (HMI) are designed to meet all your requirements. Each HMI can be adapted and designed according to the different characteristics required.

Pneumatic Control Panels

Pneumatic control cabinets allow simple and practical control of all cylinders and pneumatic actuators according to a certain pneumatic installation powered by compressed air or other fluids. The cabinets incorporate all the pneumatic and electronic components needed to achieve the desired performance in each case.

Network Control Panels

Powerlink Electrical Services also specialise in the design and implementation of bespoke network control panels. Our engineers will make you the best design and manufacturer to configure and control your operating system network.

PLC & RIO Control Panels

We provide and offer outstanding reliability and functionality on Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) & Remote Input/Output (RIO) Control Panels.

GRP Control Panels

Powerlink Electrical Services can also provide a GRP Control Panel (Fibreglass Reinforced Polyester) if your request is not based on the “Mild Steel” or “Stainless Steel” type panel material. This material can be a good compromise between quality and price.

Field Isolator & Junction Boxes

We are skilled in the design of Field isolators and Junction Boxes. This product plays an important role in the electrical system to protect your installation from any type of electrical incident in case of an emergency.

Push Button & Indication Station

Designed and realized for simple use, all the indication stations and push-button Stations from Powerlink Electrical Services come with a high standard of quality, despite this product being of simple use.

Lighting systems

Long gone are the days when hanging some fluorescent tubes from the ceiling constituted a commercial lighting system. Powerlink electrical services are experts in the design and installation of modern LED lighting which improves the working environment with health, aesthetic and energy efficiency advantages. More, better light with lower operating costs! This applies inside and outside, with external lighting forming an important part of overnight security.

LED lighting can pay for itself from energy savings very quickly indeed – sometimes within a financial year – where it displaces fluorescent and sodium fittings. For more information on how you can save with LED lighting click here

Emergency Lighting

Powerlink Electrical services carry out all aspects of emergency lighting systems from design, installation and inspection and test. We can provide test records for safety and insurance purposes and assist with the test procedures as required. Legislation dictates that emergency lighting is present, maintained and properly controlled. It is important to stay abreast of the locations of emergency lights when reconfiguring workplaces if exit routes are affected by the addition of partitions.

Inspection and testing

As an experienced ECA and NICEIC approved contractor Powerlink electrical services provide customers with the high levels of inspection and reporting demanded by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).

By law you must take reasonable precautions against the risk of death or personal injury from electricity in work activities.  Electricity at Work regulations (1989).

  • Mobile equipment (such as extension leads and welders) – EVERY SIX MONTHS

  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) – ANNUAL

  • Factory Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) – EVERY THREE YEARS

  • Office Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) – EVERY FIVE YEARS

  • Fault finding in data cabling systems

  • Fibre optic network testing

Ongoing maintenance can help avoid any surprises in these areas. In the event of failures rest assured that Powerlink Electrical Services will be able to promptly resolve and repair.

Fixed Wiring Inspection & Testing (Electrical Condition Inspection Report)

As a duty holder, it is essential that you recognise the important aspects of your job and how to comply with your legal responsibilities regarding Inspection & Testing.

Considering the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and the many years of experience our staff have in delivering inspection & testing programmes; we are in a unique position to deliver a bespoke service to suit your environment to satisfy the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

What is Powerlink’s Solution

As a general approach, assuming you have not constituted accurate records, we would suggest the following:

Electrical Network Drawing

Undertake electrical network drawings to identify and label the detail of your LV system to comply with Regulation 12 of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (methods of identifying circuits).

100% Inspection & Testing as far as reasonably practicable

Whilst testing the electrical system, any dangerous electrical conditions will be highlighted immediately to the duty holder for corrective action. This approach will also serve to identify and prioritise areas for testing.

Corrective action on dangerous electrical non-compliances

Taking an industrial environment, a programme of testing can commence for either a one year (whole site) or three years (a third of the site each year) depending on your management decision-making process or budgetary requirements.

Network cabling installations

Powerlink Electrical Services undertakes all aspects of network cabling from Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and Cat7 to fibre optic. Reconfiguration of existing systems and upgrades to improve network speed and reliability form a large part of our data cabling work.

Data cabling is a broad subject covering all types of non-power cabling in commercial and industrial environments. Wireless network access points, AV systems, CCTV and security systems, and access control fall into this category; increasingly interconnected with IT infrastructure as part of the drive toward “the Internet of Things”, which can include addressing production machinery and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) with data connectivity.

Powerlink Electrical services have qualified network cabling engineers with years of industry experience with Nexans, Krone, Hellerman-tyton and Excel accreditations.
